Our committee’s responsibilities are heavily weighted towards the planning and coordinating of youth activities for our Middle and High school youth (and at times our college youth). Through these activities we seek to encourage a broad, meaningful, Christ-centered ministry to, with and through our youth.
Our youth vision:
To provide an environment comfortable enough for youth:
* to be able to witness about God and faith * to be involved in ministry
* to have a good time * to be connected
* to have a safe place to talk
To provide a good experience and an opportunity to connect with other youth.
To help the youth gain a spiritual connection with God that they can take with them through their lives and will also encourage them to connect with the church.
Connecting with the church to find leaders and guides for youth ministry.
To help provide friends and adult relationships for youth that encourage faith strengthening and a positive image of themselves as valuable to the world.
The accomplishments for 2010 included the following blessed youth activities:
*ALL YOUTH SNOW TRIP *EASTER BREAKFAST
*SUNRISE SERVICE *EASTER CAROLING
*YOUTH SUNDAYS *YOUTH QUAKE
*SPIRIT WEST COAST *BEACH PARTY
*CHURCH WORK DAY *CARWASH FUNDRAISER
*SERVE I-HELP *CHRISTMAS PARTY/CAROLING TO SHUT-INS
*HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY *HOLLISTER CORN MAZE
*MOVIE NIGHT *SERVING DOROTHY’S PLACE
*VBS VOLUNTEERS
*COMMUNITY SERVICE AT THE GARDEN OF MEMORIES
*SALINAS PARADE OF LIGHT – FLOAT
Goals for 2011 are to:
Continue to minister to, with, and through our youth, through the above mentioned programs and any new ones the Lord may lay in our path.
Finding and hiring a new Youth Director.
Finding a way to connect with youth and increase youth attendance.
Our 2011 concerns would continue to be in the area of low attendance. Because the youth lead such busy lives these days, we are seeing lower participation numbers in the various events at church.
Please join us in working to share the ministry of GOD through our youth programs. We encourage, not only youth and parents, but any member of our congregation, to participate with 2011 youth activities. The committee meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30pm.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped this past year, whether it was volunteering, donations, or most of all through love and prayers for our youth ministry.
Love in Christ,
The Youth Committee
JCLP 2010-2011
Jesus Christ Light and Power (JCLP) got off to a great start on October 6, 2010. 11 fourth through sixth graders registered for program, which meets Wednesday evening each week. After gathering at 5:00 for dinner, the youth participated in a 30-minute Bible study followed by 30 minutes of recreation. Many parents volunteered their time to prepare and serve the dinners. Terry Wooldridge managed dinner sign-ups, Mark Nelson prepared the Bible Studies and Erin Smith led recreation. The children who participated in this program grew in their faith and developed relationships with their peers. JCLP will end on February 23, 2011, as Lent begins. All who participated will look forward to the program beginning again next fall.
