Anniversary Prayer

Lord Jesus, come be our honored guest
For sixty years we have been blessed!
Once again we turn to Thee to pray,
that You will bless this treasured day
with Your loving presence and tender care.
You have watched us grow with promises rare,
From a faithful few with a vision strong
to build You a temple full of worship and song.
First a simple white church with a modest spire, Then a grander
sanctuary that soars even higher.
You sent us men of the cloth, on fire with zeal,
that made Your word speak,
come alive, and be real.
Where the sacraments were cherished
and held in Your name,
To which babes and brides and mourners came
to kneel at Your altar in fervent prayer,
secure in the hope that You'd meet them there.
The first faithful few are white haired now,
But sturdy young followers have seized the vow
to share Your word with its truth and grace.
And now as we stand in this Holy Place,
we ask You to join us to share our bread,
as from Your generous bounty
we are nourished and fed.
