“Life in the Family”

with Pastor Dan

Some years ago, the national teacher of the year was a wonderful fellow named Guy Doud, who was the subject of the movie, Molder of Dreams.  In the film, he relates his own story of personal humiliations in school as a youth, and how those experiences shaped his love and respect for his own students when he later became a teacher.  The title is taken from a poem read to him when he was presented the award in the White House by then president Ronald Reagan.  In that poem, teachers were told, “You are a molder of dreams,” someone who touches and shapes the future for so many young people.

As we approach the end of our Sunday school year, we want to recognize those who teach our young people as “Molders of Dreams,” but in an even more significant way.  Our teachers touch young lives for eternity as they share Christ and the glorious Gospel with the precious members of our foremost mission field: our children.  Scripture tells us that those who teach among us will incur a stricter judgment, because they are able to affect lives so deeply, hopefully for the Lord in a positive way.  If you spend any time in our classrooms, you will know that we have a marvelous group of dedicated, passionate and effective teachers.  These fine people sacrifice personal time and energy in making sure our children, and adults as well, know the Lord and His Word soundly.  We praise the Lord for your ministry among us, and we thank Him over and over for you and your work.  To everyone who teaches here, God bless you dearly!

We also want to send a special thanks to those who lead and supervise the teaching ministries here at Good Shepherd: to Kim Legard, our Sunday school superintendent who has competently led the effort to teach our young people for many years, and to Gael Nichols, who has similarly overseen the adult teaching ministries here, also for several years.  We send you our sincerest thanks and prayers for the Lord’s continued blessing on your lives and ministries!
