Electronics Buffs, we need your help. The youth room has a large array of audio-visual equipment, but it doesn’t all work together in a way that makes it accessible. Can you help? We need to get things connected in a way that all components work and are easily useable. Contact Pastor Embree or Karen Gorman if you can help.

What Is Mission Jamaica?
Mission Jamaica is a vacation trip to the island of Jamaica where the participants spend a week enjoying the island nation and spending time - five of the days working on charitable mission projects. The group is scheduled to arrive in Montego Bay at mid-day on Saturday, January 29, 2011 and depart Montego Bay at mid-day on February 5.
The projects include tasks associated with creation of additional hurricane resistant lodging at the Westhaven Orphanage, maintenance of the existing cottages such as painting or repair, caring for the handicapped children (bathing, feeding, clothing, nurturing, etc), working with a team on a Habitat for Humanity-like project, and possibly helping at a free medical clinic. Each year we face new types of projects and we do our best to perform where ever we can help.
It is a working vacation, but with rewarding tasks that prevent the boredom that often goes with a week-long stay in a tropical paradise. Two of the days, typically Thursday and Friday, are personal vacation days when we can go on tours, shop, snorkel, or whatever we would like to do, including just kicking back and enjoying the all-inclusive benefits of the four-star Resort where we stay for the week.
It is not cheap, but one does not expect a week at the Sunset Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica, to be cheap. The costs for the transportation and five days food/lodging are tax deductible for the mission trip – the two personal days resort cost are not tax deductible.
If you would like to take a vacation with a purpose that you will forever remember, contact Wyman or Elaine Ketterling, (831) 633-0583. We are solidifying travel arrangements now and will commit to ticketing in the September time frame.
